10 WAYS TO KEEP YOUR MOTORCYCLE RUNNING SMOOTHLY
July 20, 2020
Ever wanted to know how to keep your bike running smoothly like its fresh out of the dealership ..?

MAINTAIN A BIKE AS YOU WOULD MAINTAIN YOUR BODY
1.  Keep It Clean
. By not keeping it clean
Dust and dirt begins to covers up your console info
Gunk begins to form in wrong places which eventually leads to formation of RUST
Here are some ways of keeping your bike clean
Get it pressured washed every 1 and a half month or so
depending on your usage.Give it a quick wipe before and after each ride

2.   Tire Pressure
Having low tire pressure on your motorcycle will lead to low fuel economy
It’s always preferable to Keep 1 or 2 PSI (pounds per square inch) more than the company recommended number.
With optimum tire pressure the vehicle gives better economy and a longer ride.
SLOWING DOWN IS SOMETIMES THE BEST WAY TO SPEED UP.
3.   Breaking Bad
Most of us like going fast on a motorcycle, but there’s no point going fast if you cant STOP in TIME to AVOID a COLLISON.
Brakes NEEED to be cleaned or replaced if necessary .
As brake pads wear out, level of brake fluid reduces too- every few months open the brake fluid cannister and top up the fluid.

WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND
4.   Chain It Right
As far as final drive is concerned on motorcycles, chains win hands down as the most widely used drive mechanism. This is because of the sturdy construction and easy maintenance combined with low running and replacement costs. The chain of your motorcycle needs to be in a precise tension so that it doesn't knock off while riding or creates wear and tear to the Sprockets.
EFFECTS OF A LOOSE CHAIN
Creates unusual jarring noises when the chain runs over the sprockets.
Chances of getting the chain out of the sprocket is high.
Offers low fuel economy.
EFFECTS OF A TIGHT CHAIN
Reduced suspension travel due to the high amount of tension.
Power loss due to higher friction.
Losing control over the motorcycle around the corners.
CONTROL WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL
5.   Clutch It Out
With traffic in cities becoming worse by the day; constant stopping, starting and shifting gears every few seconds is not good for the life of the clutch. Clutch being depressed most of the time, WEARS out the clutch plates.
You’ll notice the clutch lever becoming a little loose and shifting gears becomes comparatively harder.
Every now and then, check to see if clutch lever has enough freeplay, and not too loose.
If the clutch plates gets too tight there are high chances that they may get burned.

DOUBT EVERYTHING FIND YOUR OWN LIGHT
6.   Light It Up
There’s possibly nothing more annoying than a motorcycle rider who: DOES NOT indicate turning. DOES NOT realize his headlights/ taillights are NOT working until they get faceplanted!
Every day, check the turn indicators and brake lights to see if they are functioning properly.
Make sure the headlight is working on low beam , pointed DOWN towards the road and NOT to the back of the rider in front.

LIFE IS A SHORT AFFAIR; WE SHOULD TRY TO MAKE IT SMOOTH
7.   Smooth As Oil
Keeping the engine of your motorcycle in good condition is by
Changing engine oil ON time every time.
Changing oil regularly will keep all the internal parts of the engine running smoothly.
The grade of oil that you put also plays a major part in keeping the engine running smoothly.
Refer to owner’s manual for recommended grade of oil.
NOT revving the engine too much and redlining it in every gear.

STAY ALIGNED WITH YOUR INTENTIONSÂ
IT`LL IMPROVE YOUR SPEED AND YOUR LIFE
8.   Keeping It Straight
With conditions of roads ever so changing, potholes and bumps will soon be unavoidable.

Sudden impact can throw wheels of the motorcycle out of alignment.
Dangerous as steering may not correct itself…you might end up sliding towards the tarmac.
Take the motorcycle to garage or a nearby dyno and check the wheel alignment.

LIVE TO RIDEÂ
DON`T RIDE TO LIVE
9.   Battery Life
If you don’t use the motorcycle regularly so that the alternator can, the battery WILL DRAIN.
The first reason a motorcycle battery may drain while riding could be due to a bad terminal connection. When a motorcycle has a bad terminal connection, that means the battery cable either has a poor connection or isn’t connected at all.
If the regulator/rectifier has gone bad, that can cause the motorcycle battery to drain while out for a ride. When the regulator/rectifier isn’t doing its job, that could mean it’s not converting the power into voltage the motorcycle can store which leads to the battery not really getting any power at all.
Aftermarket modifications or additional electrical add-ons could also cause a motorcycle battery to drain. Such add-ons may include LED lights, phone chargers, etc.

NEVER TWIST YOUR THROTTLE WITH YOUR EGO
10.   Its All About You.
Your motorcycle will really run smoothly if you take care of it. Not just maintenance, but also by RIDING CORRECTLY.
